Guidelines for Submitting Graphic Files
The goal of the WMG Graphics Department is to ensure that your project is produced exactly the way you created it to look. In order for this to happen we need your help. Please follow the simple guidlines and instructions below. If you have questions about this information please contact the Graphics Deptarment at graphics@worldmediagroup.com or 317-549-8484.

There are two formats in which we are able to receive artwork for poduction. The first format is finished film, the second format is electronic files. If you are planning on sending us film, it is very important that your files and film are set up to our specifications. If your files are not set up properly, they willl be rejected and sent back for changes before we begin the project. If you are sending us electronic files on CD or through our FTP site, we will need some basic information about you and your project. Therefore, it is essential that you fill out our Electronic File submission form at the end of this document.

If you are suppling film:
Print Material: Booklets, Tray Cards, etc. –Film supplied should be set up for four color printing. Pages must be laid out in printer’s spreads, and acompanied by a 4 color film composite proof for color matching purposes.
–All film for booklets, tray cards and paper portions of your project should be negative film, right reading, emulsion down, 150 line screen.
–All film should have a 3mm bleed area around all outside trimmed edges.
–All film should have registration marks, crop marks, and fold marks.
–All separations must be clearly marked by color.

CD label imprints:

Screen Printed Discs:
–Film supplied for CD labels must be set up for either four color process printing, or Pantone spot color printing... you may not use both process and spot colors in the same document.
–Film for CD labels should be supplied as positive, 150 line screen, emulsion up.
–Most of our discs do not use a stacking ring, please do not create your film with a stacking ring.
–Please make sure to place registration marks on your film.
–Keep all line weights above .25 point.
–Keep all fonts above 6 point size.
–Provide a color proof of your film for color matching purposes.

Offset Printed Discs:

–Film supplied for CD labels must be set up for four color process printing, in addition, we have the capability to print one spot color (this is primarily used for logos and text.)
–Film for four color process printing should be supplied as negative, 200 line screen, emulsion up.
–Film for spot colors should be supplied as positive, 150 line screen, emulsion up.
–Most of our discs do not use a stacking ring, please do not create your film with a stacking ring.
–Please make sure to place registration marks on your film.
–Keep all line weights above .25 point.
–Keep all fonts above 6 point size.
–Provide a color proof of your film for color matching purposes.

Specialty item inks (metallic/flourescent) are available at an additional

charge.

If you are suppling electronic files:

You may either send us files via CD or our FTP site. We will accept files created using professional design software including: QuarkXpress, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Acceptable formats Applications Native Format:
QuarkXPress QXD
Adobe InDesign INDD
Adobe Illustrator AI
*Adobe Photoshop *PSD
* Not encouraged. Produces text that is "fuzzy".
 
Other Acceptable Formats:
EPS Macromedia Freehand, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator
TIFF  
NOTE: jpeg images are NOT accepted formats.

Colors:

CD/DVD on-disc printing:
  • Process CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)
  • Grayscale (Black & White)
  • Pantone Spot Colors
Print Materials:
  • Process CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)
  • Grayscale (Black & White)

NOTE:Pantone Spot Colors require special pricing for printed materials.

Resolution:

All submitted materials should be 300dpi.
All submitted work must be accompanied with linked fonts and images.

Proofing methods:

Matchprint: Made directly from negative film. Color accurate. Available at an aditional charge.
PDF proof: Most popular method. No additional cost. Included in prepress. Not 100% color accurate.
Color Laser: Least color accurate. Gives customer an idea of what finished product looks like. Available at an additional charge

Final Art Checklist:

General:
  • Files provided in printer’s spreads (single pages)
  • World Media Group templates have been used
  • Spellcheck has been completed
  • Bleeds have been pulled to 1/8” (.125) on all sides of document
  • Picture usage has been checked - there are no missing or modified images in the document
High-res images:
  • Are linked to the layout
  • Are provided on disc
  • Are in CMYK or Spot color mode, NOT RGB, Lab, or Index
  • Are placed between 50% and 150% of original size
  • All images are saved as .TIFF, .EPS, .AI or .PSD formats
Fonts:
  • Font usage has been checked & all fonts used are included on disc
  • Fonts used in EPS files have been included on disc or converted to outlines
  • All colors are defined and named correctly in the color palette
  • Spot colors are set to spot; process colors are set to process
  • Colors not used have been deleted from the color palette
  • Unnecessary objects have been deleted from all files & pages
