Continued Growth in Gift Card Market Expected for 2011 Holiday Shopping Season

During the 2010 holiday season, gift cards accounted for 14.5 percent of all holiday gift purchases. A National Retail Federation (NRF) survey found that 77.3 % of shoppers said they were likely to purchase one or more gift cards during the 2010 holiday season. An increase in sales was reported for both retailers as well as incentive programs.
